The deadline for submitting applications via Ucas is set at 6 pm on Sunday, 15 January. However, if you are not able to apply within the given time frame, due to any reason such as hesitation, deferred recommendations, or technical complications, you don’t need to worry. There are still various opportunities available for you to secure your place. Check out the following options:
– Late Applications:
Although 6 pm on Sunday, 15 January is the official deadline by Ucas for processing applications; they do accept late applications until the end of June. However, it is to be noted that such late applications are not equally considered as those submitted before the deadline. Therefore, there is a chance that you may miss a place in competitive courses having limited vacancies. However, don’t give up as institutions may still offer you admission in different courses. You should approach universities immediately to learn more about late applications.
– Clearing:
Clearing, a procedure used by students who did not get admission on exam results day, is also available for those who couldn’t apply by January. From July to September, several universities in the UK will begin accepting applications for courses with available spaces. These will be provided on a first come, first served basis, allowing applicants to secure their places before results are even announced. In the year 2020, approximately 14,900 students applied directly to clearing and were able to find a suitable course.
– No Offers:
The Ucas Extra Scheme begins in February and is available for people who have not received any offers yet or have declined them all. You can apply for as many courses as you want, but keep in mind that it will only allow you to apply for one course at a time, so always prioritize your choices. It is reported that last year around 7,500 applicants were accepted successfully into their preferred courses with the help of this scheme.
