Early Registration for Clearing
From 8 am on results day, you can start registering for Clearing. Simply utilize your Ucas personal ID number to log into your Track page. In case you haven’t received any offers, or didn’t fulfill the requirements of your offer, your Track screen will notify you that you are now in clearing. Your clearing number will be found on the Track homepage, on the top left-hand corner, under the "My Status" area. Keep this number close as you’ll need it for every stage of the process.
Commence Your Search
With the Ucas course search tool, locate courses that have openings in your preferred subject. Contact information might also be included in the tool if some universities have specific clearing hotline numbers. Create a list of potential alternatives.
Be Prepared
Prepare all the essential information. This may contain your Ucas ID number, clearing number, A-level and GCSE results, specific work experience, a relevant portfolio, a copy of your personal statement, and any notes or queries on the courses and universities that interest you.
Make Contact
Begin calling your chosen universities. It would be best if you contacted them directly, and it must be you who calls. The admissions personnel will request your clearing number, giving them access to your Track screen to check your application, results, and personal statement.
Time for Questions
If you’re eligible for a position, and there’s still a spot available, the admissions personnel may ask you several questions – like a mini-interview. These aren’t meant to trick you; they’re trying to figure out if you’re a good match for the course.
Offer Time
The university may then give you a verbal offer. There won’t be any conditional offers in clearing since you’ve already received your results. Or, they may ask to contact you later. Verbal offers typically include time restrictions, giving you time to consider it.
Stay Updated
After accepting an offer, you’ll need to update your Track screen. Often, universities won’t update it for you. So, just click on the option that allows you to add a clearing choice.
Confirmation
Simply updating your Track screen isn’t sufficient. You must contact the university directly and tell them that you’ve accepted their proposition. Ask how they prefer you to do this – some might require a letter, and others may take an email. Make sure you keep a record of the offers made and determine how the university will validate the offer and the timeframe for confirmation.
Congratulations!
You’ve made it, and you’ve obtained your spot. Now, go out and celebrate your achievement!
